Models of Healing for Indigenous Survivors of Inter-Generational Trauma Conference, hosted by D-Q University at Sycuan (now Kumeyaay Community College), Sycuan Inter-Tribal Vocational Rehabilitation SITVR, the Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation, Native American Indians, and took place on April 15 - 18, 2003, on the Sycuan Indian Reservation.
SYCUAN POWWOW - Stephanie La Chappa, 12, (center of picture) is brought out into the arena by her extended Kumeyaay family and given her traditional Kumeyaay name, Siny Yuuhuy. The traditional naming ceremony honors Siny Yuuhuy, which translates to "First Woman" in English, and instills her sense of belonging to the Kumeyaay Nation, September 6, 2002.
